Marco, a 100% employee owned company, has been the leader in providing the Upper Midwest voice communications, data networking, and printer services since 1985. Marco can plan, design, and install all components necessary for your voice, data, and printing networks. With 33 locations spanning five states, their corporate headquarters was in need of a change. Marco bought land and planned construction of a new warehouse and corporate office off I94 in St. Cloud, MN.
This facility was going to allow their two current warehouses in downtown St. Cloud to be consolidated into one. Marco contacted SJF to assist with the planning and installation of their new warehouse.
TTI Floor Care is the national leader in innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction in floor care products. Their distribution centers in the Cleveland, Ohio area are home to three of the most powerful brands in floor care products, including Hoover, Dirt Devil, and Orek. In early 2013, Chris Hills of CLH Logistics in Ohio contacted SJF to assist with the reconfiguration of one distribution center in the Cleveland area. Housing both the Hoover and Dirt Devil brands, along with the replacement parts for both, more room and organization was needed. Their current set up consisted of shelving and floor stack pallets for the LTL and full load shipping areas. The remainder of the spare parts were stacked on the floor, sometimes seven deep and up to three high, yet every pallet was a different SKU. Pallets awaiting shipment also needed to be stored in such a way that the vacuum boxes would not be damaged prior to transport, a common problem when floor stacking.
Different options were discussed for the spare parts picking area. TTI was currently picking “eaches” for stock to repair centers, while considering a transition to “full case” picks. SJF needed to come up with a way to let “each” picks happen, while allowing the flexibility to transition to full case picking in the future. Discussion of pallet flow and carousels arose, but to keep within budget on the job, a simple multi-lane span track picking area was decided.
Bridging is a wonderful Minnesota charity organization that SJF Material Handling Inc. is proud to be associated with.
Bridging was founded on one simple, yet powerful idea – that together we can create a bridge between those in need and those with excess. Twenty-five years and nearly 50,000 square feet later, Bridging is the largest furniture bank in North America providing home furnishings and appliances to those in need.
Bridging works with a variety of businesses, foundations, individuals, and other nonprofits to make a difference in the lives of people in need. These partners have generously supported our mission through significant in-kind donations, product drive collections, and/or financial contributions of $10,000 or more.
It’s been a few months since we’ve heard from our newest sales recruit – In this post, Rhonda Remer checks in with some insights on her 9 month anniversary in Material Handling Sales.
Nine months is the typical gestation time of a baby. On my 9 month anniversary in Solution Sales, I’m happy to announce that I’ve been blessed with a little “Bundle of Joy.” No – I’m not talking about the birth of an infant, but rather something new to me called Repeat Customers!
Just the other day I was very excited to open my email one morning to see an email that said, “Remember me? We need 100 more decks!”
GPM Inc, Headquartered in Duluth, MN makes use of SJF’s “Good-as-New” Cantilever Racks to store steel components (bar stock, pipes, etc.) GPM manufactures and distributes the toughest, most reliable submersible and horizontal slurry pumps found anywhere in the world…and they’re located right here in Northern MN – who knew?
GPM called SJF because they were looking for a solution for organizing their extra building materials to get it off the ground and out of the way. They evaluated both new and used cantilever racks. Rhonda (their SJF Salesperson) took pictures of the used Monarch cantilever racks that we had on-site and sent them to GPM. They liked what they saw, and were able to save around 40% off new prices on these used cantilever racks.
