What is Interlake Pallet Racking?
Interlake Pallet Racking Systems (also known as Interlake Mecalux pallet racking systems) are a very popular style of pallet rack. There are two types of Interlake pallet racking, referred to as new style and old style. Interlake new style beams are compatible with any teardrop upright frame, however Interlake old style beams will not fit an Interlake new style upright frame.
Recently, Interlake started manufacturing a shaved pin style beam connector that is compatible with both new style and old style pallet racking systems. This can be confusing, so please check with your professional SJF sales representative to verify that your beams and upright frames will work together. Interlake pallet racking is most commonly colored orange for the beams and green for the upright frames.
Key Identification Details
Upright Frames
The vertical structure that dictates the height and depth of the pallet racking system. Two upright frames are needed for a starting bay. Once the first structure is in place, only one additional upright frame is needed to add on. Upright frames come in two post sizes depending on weight capacity needs.
Beams
The horizontal weight-bearing structure connecting upright frames to each other. Beams come in different lengths and heights depending on the size needed and the weight of stored items. They come in step or box style, which allow the use of optional supports or decking. Beams can be adjusted and reconfigured as needs change.
Common Accessories
- Wire decking to add a mesh layer over beams so items don't fall through and to add strength
- Post protectors to protect the base of upright frames from forklifts
- Wall ties, back-to-back ties and anchors for additional stability
- Safety panels and straps to prevent stored items from falling off
- Spacers and pallet supports for added system integrity
